Wedding Trends for Spring 2014…

Happy New Year to you all! After the long festive break I know all you brides to be are chomping at the bit looking forward to planning for your upcoming nuptials!

Dusting off the cobwebs after hibernating for the winter wedding trends for this season sees a return to some past season colour favourites such as the pastel trend making a comeback. The catwalks in New York, Paris and London were in full muted swing and my favourite 1950s style circle skirts are hot styles to go for in these bubblegum colours. Scarily though a new cropped top is all the rage, so if you have a wash board stomach it’s time to throw off your winter jumpers and get it out!

Here are some gorgeous bridal gowns in the style of 1950s tea dresses. The ‘tea length’ of the skirt is essential for this seasons trend, its quite specific, being midway between midi and maxi! Basically if it skims your heels, you’re heading in the right direction!

If like me you have been feasting on chocolate and mince pies all Christmas, the cropped style may not be for you. Don’t fear! The buttoned up collar blouse is our saviour. With embellished collars and floaty fabrics, they will hide a multitude of sins while being pretty and feminine. Try this one from Ruche

Now, having been born at the beginning of the 80s I find it a little disturbing that my teenage wardrobe is now ‘back in fashion’. Yes, the 1990s are officially making a comeback and the wedding world is not safe! Forget the frou frou gowns influenced by the end of the 1980s though, I’m talking more of your simple shift dress. Beautiful lines with no room for underwear, this style is unforgiving for ladies with any sort of shapely figure and a massive no no for anyone with size C cup or above. I do love this style though and am envious of anyone who can pull it off, Vera Wang has created a beautiful collection of gowns in this style and for the rest of us, the Princess style gown will do nicely.
